Vivekananda Institute of Technology

Department of Science and Humanitarian

Overview:

Basic Science is a systematic enterprise of gathering knowledge about the world and organizing and condensing that knowledge into testable laws and theories. As knowledge has increased, some methods have proved more reliable than others, and today the scientific method is the standard for science. It includes the use of careful observation, experimentation, measurement, mathematics, and replication — to be considered a science, a body of knowledge must stand up to repeated testing by independent observers. The people who carry out engineering should focus on science in the more restricted sense. Department of B.S.H Established in the 1997 to equip the engineering students department envisioned strong base in basic and humanities as the bedrock on which foundation of teaching and research in engineering and technology had to be laid. The faculty of Basic Sciences and Humanities has been accomplishing its mandate through incorporation of the latest scientific ideas and techniques in nearly all the professional programmes of education imparted in the Institute.

Basic Sciences and Humanities has been one of the main constituents of the Institute, shouldering all engineering graduate instructional responsibilities in all the academic programmes.

Vision

To mould the students into responsible individuals with depth knowledge of subject, discipline and human values there by contributing to the overall growth of the country.

Mission

• To strive hard to overcome the hindering forces in the minds of young technocrats and to catalyse technical activities there by directing a light beam for the better reflection of the country.

• To provide every undergraduate student at VKIT with experiences and ideas that will serve as a foundation for careers and further study in engineering and science.

• Establish an atmosphere of creative endeavour that support interdisciplinary collaborations, innovative projects, significant research, interesting courses and informal discussions that mutually benefit students, faculty and the community at large.

Short Term Goals

• To achieve good results in Theory and Practical’s.

• To use technical tools to improve classroom teaching.

• To conduct workshops, National seminars etc.,

Long Term Goals

• To develop R & D centre.

• Develop human values in students to develop R & D centre

• To publish as many as research papers in an international journals.
