Vivekananda Institute of Technology

Principal

From Principal Desk

The economic prosperity of our country needs highly professional and competent engineers. This could be achieved by imparting value-based quality education to students. The Janatha Education Society has been magnanimous in providing the State-of-the-art Laboratories and all other infrastructural facilities comparable to any other renowned Institution in the country. With a team of well qualified, experienced and motivated faculty, I am confident that the engineers going out of this Institution will not only be humane but will be capable of facing the present competitive global challenges.

Dr. D. Hemanth is the Principal of Vivekananda Institute of Technology. Dr.Hemanth holds a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from Mysore University and a Masters degree specialized in Design of Mechanical Systems from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and has obtained his Ph.D from Bangalore University. He has worked in the field of ?Fracture Behavior of Interface Cracks in Orthotropic Media? for his doctoral thesis. He has served as Professor and Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering over 17 years at Bangalore Institute of Technology (BIT), Bangalore and has been instrumental in setting up highest quality laboratories such as CAD/CAM & ROBOTICS laboratory, design laboratory etc. He is also responsible for starting Post Graduate course in M.Tech (Machine Design) and Research and Development Center at BIT. With a total of over 34 years of teaching experience and life long involvement in promoting academic activities, he is an asset to our institution. Dr.Hemanth?s areas of research interest are fiber-reinforced composites, fracture mechanics and solid mechanics. He has published several technical papers in reputed National and International journals. He is a Fellow of Institution of Engineers (FIE), Member Institute of Smart Structures and Systems (ISSS), Member Indian Society for Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (ISTAM), and has served in many academic bodies of Bangalore University and Visvesvaraya Technological University.
